DESIGN FOR TOMORROW
About

Andy Cao
At a young age, I found myself drawn the environment around me. In middle school, I began organizing small neighborhood clean-up events, inviting friends to join me in picking up trash in our local area. I remember feeling proud not just of the cleaner streets, but of the sense of responsibility we built together.
At the same time, I was fascinated by architecture. I spent hours sketching structures and later began hosting small lessons for younger kids in my area, teaching them how to design and build simple models.
As I grew older, I started to see how closely architecture and sustainability were connected. When I moved from Vietnam to the United States for high school, I carried these two passions with me, which inspired me to create this nonprofit to spread more awareness about these two subjects.

I discovered my interest in architecture through technical theatre. In high school, I worked behind the scenes by building stage sets and props. What began as painting backdrops and assembling platforms quickly became something I was interested in. Through set construction, I learned that every design choice matters. A structure must be visually compelling, but it also has to be stable and safe.
Over time, those experiences sparked a deeper interest in architecture. Building sets taught me precision, teamwork, and creative problem solving under real constraints. As Vice President of this nonprofit, I hope to bring that same hands on experience and passion for building into creating architecutre models that are both meaningful and sustainable.
